Eastern Oklahoma State College has appointed Dr. Donna Hunnicutt as vice president of Academic Affairs. Hunnicutt replaces Dr. Patricia Ratliff who retired last year.

Eastern President Dr. Janet Wansick said Hunnicutt’s experience in the areas of accreditation, assessment and program development will aid in the advancement of academics at the college.

“After a thorough national search, Dr. Hunnicutt emerged as the clear choice to help move Eastern forward. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this very important role,” Wansick said. “I’m excited to have Dr. Hunnicutt join our leadership team as we work to improve access and remove barriers to student success.”

The vice president of Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer of the college and oversees the academic divisions, deans and teaching faculty. Dr. Hunnicutt will also be responsible for the development of new academic programs, preparation for accreditation reviews, the assessment of student learning goals and outcomes, and the coordination of institutional research and data collection for use in decision making.

Hunnicutt comes to Eastern after serving as the coordinator for graduate programs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello since 2004. She also served as the accreditation coordinator, and data and assessment coordinator for the past 14 years. In addition, Hunnicutt has served as an associate professor in the School of Education since 2003, teaching research and assessment techniques in undergraduate and graduate level courses.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communications and a master’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, as well as a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

“Eastern has quickly become my new home and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve under the visionary leadership of Dr. Wansick,” Hunnicutt said. The commitment to the success of our students is my number one priority as we advance toward the future.”
