Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Honors Program and Humanities Club will host author Phillip Carroll Morgan on Friday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the President’s Dining Room, E.E. Tourtellote Student Center. Admission is free and open to the public.

Morgan is a Choctaw-Chickasaw author known for “The Fork-in-the-Road Indian Poetry Store,” which won the Native Writers Circle of the Americas First Book Award for Poetry in 2002.

Morgan has authored several award-winning titles including “Anompolichi: The Wordmaster” and its sequel “The Lost River,” “Chickasaw Renaissance,” “Dynamic Chickasaw Women” and “Riding Out the Storm: 19th Century Chickasaw Governors and Their Intellectual Legacy.”

Morgan earned a doctorate in English from the University of Oklahoma and specializes in Native American literature. Published in 2008, he worked with eleven other Indigenous American and Canadian scholars to coauthor “Reasoning Together: The Native Critics Collective.” More recently, he contributed to “Famine Pots, The Choctaw-Irish Gift Exchange,” a cooperative work of Irish scholars and First American scholars published in 2020 by the Michigan State University Press.
