Southeastern Director of Athletics Keith Baxter has announced the hiring of Dustin Plankey to take over as the Savage Storm Director of Sports Performance.
 
“I’m very excited to be joining the Savage Storm family,” said Plankey, “And have the opportunity to work with our student athletes. The commitment to development and performance at Southeastern is evident and I look forward to helping our teams succeed as we continue to become a force in Division II.”
 
Plankey transitions to SE following a short stint with the Texas Rangers organization where he worked with as an applied sports scientist and strength coach, assisting with all aspects of the strength and conditioning program while also assisting in the outfield.
 
That followed a stop as the Business Development Manager at VALD Performance, a company specializing in the gathering of sports science data.
 
Prior to VALD, he would spend two years at Sam Houston State as an athletic trainer.
 
Plankey began his athletics career in 2018 as a graduate assistant trainer at North Texas.
 
Before working in the athletics field, he served six years in the Kansas Air National Guard.
 
He earned a bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Washburn in 2014 and followed that with a master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from North Texas in 2019.
