Southeastern rodeo will have two cowboys stepping outside of college competition as steer wrestlers Tyler Ravenscroft and Mason Couch will each be competing on some of the biggest rodeo stages this weekend.
 
Ravenscroft, a senior from Netzel, Neb., earned a berth in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
 
He will be up for competition March 9, 10, and 11 and he stands to have an opportunity to qualify and compete for a $50,000 grand prize.
 
He earned that berth after posting a 3.2 at the Waller County Fair and Rodeo, a PRCA event, in Hempstead, Texas.
 
His runs will be carried on the Cowboy Channel Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Rodeo Houston is organized into five three-day super series, two semifinal rounds, and two Wild Card Rounds with a single Championship Final. Each series includes three rounds with one round being held each day.
 
Couch, a senior from Bronaugh, Mo., will also be in Texas for the weekend after posting a 3.3 in the wild card round, beating 76 other competitors to earn a spot in the Contender Round of The American.
 
The Contender Round is set for 6:45 p.m. Thursday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and will feature 13 steer wrestlers with the top-five advancing to The American on Saturday night.
