Southeastern stranded nine runners, five of them in soring position, and dropped its finale in the Dugan Collegiate Invitational 5-2 to Northwest Missouri State on Sunday afternoon in Hot Springs, Ark.

The loss dips the Savage Storm to 1-2 on the season with the home opener arounds the corner on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. versus Northeastern State at Mike Metheny Field.

Cameron French collected a pair of hits to lead the Storm on offense, while Sam Creed, Matt Miles, and Reid Rice each added one.

Creed and French each drove in a run as well.

Dylan Turner got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs, two of them earned, on six hits in 6.0 innings of work while striking out four.

Jackson Sioson allowed a run in an inning of relief before handing off to Jared Barta who tossed a scoreless inning without allowing a hit while striking out one.

NWMSU got on the board first with a solo homer in the second inning, and added two more runs in the third, taking advantage of two Storm errors to push the lead to 3-0.

An unearned run in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh would push the Bearcat lead to 5-0 after seven.

A Creed single in the top of the eighth would put SE on the board by plating Cory Bonstrom, and the Storm would tack on another run on a French RBI single later in the inning which drove in Creed to close the gap to 5-2 which would ultimately be the final score.
