Southeastern Oklahoma State University Storm Fall Twice to Open Weekend at UCO-OC Classic

Southeastern opened its second weekend of competition with a pair of losses at the UCO-OC Classic, falling to host Oklahoma Christian 3-0 before a 3-0 defeat against St. Mary’s in game two.
 
The loss dips the Savage Storm to 1-5 overall on the season with a pair of games remaining on the weekend versus Central Oklahoma at 12:30 pm followed by a 4:30 pm matchup against Emporia State, both back in Edmond, Okla., at UCO.
 
D’Nari Mills led the offense in the opener versus OC, posting six kills, while McKenzie Turkoly led the way at setter with 10 assists while Ruthie Forson chipped in six.
 
Defensively, Patience Lewis collected 16 digs, while five players each picked up a block.
 
The Storm opened with a 25-15 loss before seeing set two go 25-16 in favor of the Eagles. OC would clinch the match with a 25-13 win in set three.
 
In match two, Mills and Michera Moffett each posted eight kills to lead the offense while Turkoly dished out 14 assists and Forson added 10.
 
Defensively, Mills and Amaya Constantino each picked up 12 digs, while three players turned in a block each.
 
The opening set was neck-and-neck before STMU would take four of the final six points to take the set 25-23.
 
The second set saw the Rattlers take nine of the final 10 points to take the set 25-13.
 
The third set saw the Storm take an early lead before STMU rallied and would ultimately take five of the final eight points in the set to win the clinching set 25-23.
