The Southeastern offense stranded 13 runners and Washburn took advantage of three Savage Storm errors as SE fell on Saturday night 7-2 in game two at the Dugan Collegiate Invitational in Hot Springs, Ark.

The loss evens the Storm record at 1-1 on the young season heading into the weekend finale on Sunday against Northwest Missouri State at 10 a.m.

Cameron Cromer logged a 4-for-5 effort at the plate to lead SE, with Damon Burroughs and Joseph Ramirez each adding a hit.

Burroughs would account for an RBI, while Ramirez scored both runs.

Connor Priest got the start and took the loss after allowing two unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts over 3.0 innings of work.

Bristol Carson tossed the next inning in relief and was tagged for four runs on five hits.

Cameron Hauch came in next and struck out six, allowing a run on a hit over four innings.

Coby Langford would finish the game with an inning of work, allowing no runs on a hit.

Washburn opened scoring in the top of the first inning with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

SE found an answer in the bottom of the second as Herd reached on a fielder’s choice and saw Joseph Ramirez score from second on an error to even the contest at 1-1.

The Ichabods would break that tie in the top of the third on a bases-loaded walk, taking a 2-1 lead.

WU would add a three-run homer and an RBI single in the fourth inning to stretch its lead to 6-1.

Damon Burroughs would drive in Ramirez in the bottom of the fourth, closing the gap to 6-2.

Washburn would add a run on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth, pushing the lead to 7-2 midway through the fifth.

That was where the scoring would end, with SE leaving runners in scoring position in the seventh and ninth innings in the loss.
