The No. 1-ranked University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team won all four events and posted the program's 66th consecutive home victory Friday night at Lloyd Noble Center, downing Iowa State 198.225-195.875.
The Sooners improved to 7-0 on the season by registering their second-highest score of the year. Entering the weekend, no other team had scored higher than a 198.125 at home. OU head coach K.J. Kindler improved to 128-4 at Lloyd Noble Center with the win over her alma mater.
The Sooners took no less than the top three spots on each event against the Cyclones, finishing in the top six positions on beam and the top five on vault and bars.
Sophomore Jordan Bowers won the all-around for the second straight week and third time of her career with a 39.625, which included a 9.950 on vault, 9.925 on bars and a career-high-tying 9.950 on beam. Bowers shared the vault title with teammate and super senior Allie Stern. It was the second vault title on the season for each, 10th in Bowers' career and eighth in Stern's. Bowers also posted her second beam title this season.
For the second straight week, junior Audrey Davis was near-perfect with a 9.975 to capture back-to-back titles on the event and 15th overall. Sophomore Danae Fletcher added a season-high 9.950 to win the floor title, which is her first this season and fourth overall.
Competing in Olympic order, the Sooners showcased six Yurchenko 1.5s and a Yurchenko full in the exhibition spot for a 49.575 on vault. OU started off the rotation with four straight 9.900-plus vaults, beginning with sophomore Danielle Sievers' 9.925. Freshman Faith Torrez was solid with a 9.900, while Stern and Bowers followed with their 9.950s to win the event title. Junior Katherine LeVasseur earned a 9.850 and classmate Audrey Davis added a 9.725. Tulsa native and junior Sheridan Ramsey made her season debut in the exhibition spot and stuck a huge Yurchenko full for a 9.825.
The Sooners tied the sixth-best score in program history with a 49.675 and posted five out of six scores in the 9.900-range. Sievers led off OU with a season-high 9.925, while LeVasseur displayed clean lines and handstands for a season-high 9.950. Senior Ragan Smith was solid with a 9.900, while Bowers added a gorgeous routine for a 9.925. Davis was near perfection for the second consecutive week with a 9.975, showing off impeccable form and a stuck double-front half dismount. Showing the depth of the OU bars squad, sophomore Danae Fletcher earned a 9.875 in the exhibition spot.
Making her debut in the Lloyd Noble Center this season, super senior Olivia Trautman started the beam team with a strong 9.900. Back-to-back stuck dismounts from LeVasseur and Bowers resulted in respective scores of 9.900 and 9.950. Always displaying her flexibility and artistry, Davis earned a 9.875. After a fall on bars, Torrez rebounded by posting a solid 9.875. Smith wrapped up the beam lineup with her third straight score of 9.900-plus of the season (9.925).
The Sooners posted a 49.425 on floor to wrap up the night in the final rotation. Junior Bell Johnson performed a fun Harry Styles inspired routine, but scored a 9.750 after going out of bounds on her first pass. Smith performed her energetic and powerful routine for a 9.825, while Sievers scored her third straight 9.925 on the night, good for a season high.
"Dani had an incredible night, but she has been probably our most consistent all year long, just kind of delivering similar routines every time she goes," Kindler said.
Fletcher opened her jazzy funk routine with a new whip-to-double-back opening pass for a season-high 9.950. Bowers completed her night with a 9.800 before Torrez anchored with difficult tumbling, including a double layout and front tuck through to double back, for a 9.925, her fourth 9.900-plus score of the season. In the exhibition spot, Davis posted a 9.725.
"Danae's floor routine is super exciting," Sievers said. "It's always so much fun to watch. We can see it every single day, so when the crowd gets involved, it makes it that much more fun."
