Saturday afternoon, the No. 3 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-3, 0-0 SAC) collected their third win in a row with a 12-4 triumph against Missouri Baptist University (7-3, 0-0 AMC).
The Drovers dominated from start to finish, beginning with a trio of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Science & Arts added five more runs in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0 going into the third.
Missouri Baptist used a grand slam to cut the deficit in half in the top of the third inning, but the Drovers quickly responded with one run in the bottom half of the third, followed by two more runs in the fourth.
With the score 11-4 going into the sixth inning, the Drovers used a walk-off double from Sierra Selfridge to enforce the "mercy rule."
Sophie Williams improved her record to 2-1 with a solid performance in the circle, allowing just two earned runs in 6.0 innings of work. Williams surrendered only five hits as she struck out 10 batters.
As a team, the Drovers compiled 15 hits as they managed to stay red-hot at the plate. This weekend, USAO tallied 27 runs and pounded out 38 hits in three games played.
Eight different Drovers recorded hits in the win, led by Jadyn Goucher's incredible performance. Goucher was perfect at the plate, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles, a homerun, two runs scored, and four runs batted in. This weekend, the freshman went 7-10 with two doubles, a triple, a homerun, five runs scored, and six RBI's.
Sierra Selfridge also delivered a fantastic performance at the dish, concluding 3-4 with a double, a run scored, and a pair of RBI's.
Slater Eck and Macenzie Ruth each finished with a pair of hits. Eck went 2-3 with three stolen bases and two runs scored. Ruth concluded 2-4 with a stolen base, a run scored, and two runs batted in.
Malea McMurtrey and Jaclyn Gray each finished with one hit and two runs scored. McMurtrey drove in one run and Gray added two RBI's.
Kylie Milanic blasted a double as she went 1-4 with a run batted in, while Tyler Trott went 1-3 with a run scored.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Drovers will return to action on Friday, February 24 as they host a double-header against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Game one is scheduled for 4:00 PM, followed by game two at 6:00 PM at Bill Smith Ballpark.
