Arkansas Tech won twice more over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday. The Wonder Boys (7-4, 3-0 GAC) won by 12-9 and 3-2 scores to push the Bison's early-season record to 3-6 and 0-3 in the Great American Conference.

GAME ONE

ATU's offense went off in the bottom of the first. The hosts scored nine runs off eight hits and stranded just two.

After a game-opening strikeout from Logan Kimbro, the Wonder Boys next nine batters reached base. That included a trio of two-baggers, four singles and a pair of walks. By the end of the first, ATU led 9-0 after a two-run double by Sawyer Duddleston.

The Bison came back though, scoring eight in the top of the second.

Gabe Irwin started the big inning with a run-scoring single that plated Alex Schroeder. Later, Isiah Lissade and Trey Furrey drove in two before Schroeder delivered. The junior smacked a grand slam, this one over the left-field fence and brought the score to 9-8.

For each team, quick pitching changes ensued, and scoring did not come close to the first two frames afterwards.

For the Bison, Nolan Feazle tossed a staff-high 4.1 innings and fanned seven batters, a career-high. He also only allowed one earned run. Additionally, Garrett Kellogg-Clarke pitched 3.1 frames, gave up a run, struck out three and induced four fly-ball outs.

In the other dugout, ATU's Marshall Brown earned the win for the Wonder Boys. He tossed 6.2 innings, struck out nine and got seven groundouts.

After OBU's eight-run second inning, just one more run came. That was delivered by catcher Troy Shields who smacked a solo homer in the eighth. For ATU, it notched single runs in the third, fifth and sixth frames.

GAME TWO

The seven-inning finale between the two schools saw some solid pitching.

For the Bison, Jake Hamilton allowed just two earned runs through four innings. He also struck out five and got seven combined groundouts and flyouts.

Arkansas Tech used four pitchers. Emiliano Mata got the win by going five innings, allowing just two hits, and inducing 10 Bison fly-ball outs.

After three scoreless frames, in which the Bison saw four balls reach the outfield, ATU scored in the bottom of the fourth.

Keaton Ranallo was occupying second base and after a throwing error by the Bison, he rounded home. A frame later, the Wonder Boys jumped up 3-0.

In the fifth, Duddleston took a 3-2 pitch to left field and scored Cade McBride. OBU's sixth frame nearly tied the contest.

After Lissade walked, and Jayden Shafer singled, Dan Pruitt reached on a fielder's choice and plated Lissade. Two batters later, Kade Self notched an RBI groundout to third and moved the green and gold to within one, 3-2. However, the next at-bat, with a runner in scoring position, brought another grounder to third and the final out.

Once more, the Bison had a chance to tie. In the seventh, ATU turned a double play but the next at-bat to Austin Albright resulted in a double. However, a grounder to short followed and ended the game.

Next on the schedule for the Bison is a home game against Pittsburg State on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
